FRAUD BULLETIN - please be EXTREMELY
WARY of offers by distant strangers to send you a high value (but
counterfeit) cashier's check, and then have you wire the balance
to them. These offers are sometimes emailed to posters, often
as offers for sale items. Banks will cash these counterfeit checks,
but then hold you responsible for the funds when the check fails
to clear! If you have been victimized, you can contact the FTC
toll-free at 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357), use the complaint
form on their website or call the Canadian
PhoneBusters hotline toll-free at 1-888-495-8501.
CABINETS NEEDED:
To make Harvest a better place for our shoppers
with MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity), we are looking for some
glass front cabinets for some of the more heavily scented items.
If you have any you would be willing to give or sell us, please
let us know. You can email them to
too!
BARTER
CHILDCARE
BABYSITTER/LIVE-IN NANNY WANTED:
I’m a single mother and self-employed artist/designer
looking for babysitting help primarily during the work week,
during the day.
My child is 2 1/2 years old and an absolute delight almost
all of the time. She is affectionate, happy, funny and
sweet. So far, every one of her baby sitters has fallen
in love with her.
I hope to find a sitter who would also like to live here, exchanging
room and some board for a set number of babysitting hours weekly. (Additional
hours, if any, would be paid, of course.) I can
provide you with your own very private room and bath, with
separate entrance. The room has its own refrigerator,
microwave and coffee maker.
References are a must. Email: portrait@earthlink.net, phone:
617 524 7390.
CHILDCARE WANTED:
We are seeking an experienced person to look after
our daughters, usually on Mondays 8 am - 6 pm and Tuesdays
12:30 pm - 6 pm.
Pay is $10 per hour.
There may be additional
hours available, as well as an opportunity to do some challenging
and educational office work in our home office.
We would
like someone with lots of experience looking after children.
We prefer someone who is also a licensed and experienced driver
in Boston.
If you are studying early childhood education, this
could be a particularly good match.
Our children like going
to museums, playgrounds, cooking, art, gardening and having
friends over.
They are likable, energetic, and like to learn
from grownups and their peers.
If this sounds like a good fit
for you, or you know someone who might enjoy this work, please
call Adam at 617-325-9526.

INFANT MASSAGE
promotes nurturing touch through the training
and one-to-one instruction for parents and full-time caregivers.
I teach a gentle and loving baby massage that has many benefits for
both parents and children. The relationship between a parent
and baby is enhanced and strengthened through the nurturing
touch of infant massage. Parents often find that their baby
sleeps better, fusses less, and gains more weight, when massaged
regularly.

T'AI CHI CLASSES AT STILL MOUNTAIN
T'AI CHI CENTER.
Ongoing
classes are held at Third Life Studio at 33 Union Square,
Somerville.
Taijiquan ("t'ai chi") is a martial art from
the north of China. It is an internal martial art, which
means that its power comes from internal energy known
as qi (pronounced "chee")
and from the natural tenacity of the body's bones, sinews
and muscles. Derived from Taoist principles, taiji quan
is also a means for personal growth and transformation.
To
describe it in more familiar terms: if yoga were a martial
art, it would be taijiquan.
Bede Bidlack is the director of Still Mountain T'ai Chi
Center (Ardmore, PA and Somerville/Cambridge) and has been
teaching since 1995. He has lectured widely on oriental
and occidental spirituality. He is currently studying Comparative
Theology at Boston College. He has been a Coop Member since
he moved to Cambridge in 2002.

INTRODUCTION TO MACROBIOTICS I
a lecture by David
Snieckus Wednesday, October 10, 2007
Derived from
the Greek term "Macro" for large or great, and "Bios" for
life, Macrobiotics is an ancient philosophy of a natural
and holistic way of life for humanity according to the
natural order of the infinite universe, which manifests
itself into complimentary and antagonistic energies in
the form of yin (expanding) and yang (contracting).
Come
learn about the basic principles of Macrobiotics, including:
how the order of the universe works, the evolution of
plants and animals, the yin/yang philosophy applied to
food.
David Snieckus is a graduate of the world
renowned Kushi Institute, and has been practicing Macrobiotics
since 1977. He empowers individuals to experience optimum
health, well-being and happiness through the understanding
and practical application of Macrobiotics, particularly
as it applies to the proper selection, cooking and eating
of healthy, wholesome foods.
His vision is “every
kitchen a wellness center” and one peaceful
and healthy world.
INTRODUCTION TO MACROBIOTICS
II
a lecture by David Snieckus Wednesday, October 17,
2007
As a follow-up to last
week's lecture, David will expand upon his talk on
Macrobiotics, addressing: The Five Transformations,
the energy of food, nutrition, Macrobiotics applied
to dis-ease, how to optimize health and well-being.
THE AWAKENING UNIVERSE,
a film by Neal Rogin Wednesday,
October 24, 2007
Based on the book, "The
Universe Story", by cultural historian Thomas Berry
and Cosmologist Brian Swimme, this beautiful and inspiring
film takes you on the ultimate journey, from the very
birth of the Universe, through the arising of Galaxies,
the formation of the Earth, the emergence of life, and
finally to the development of human consciousness.
In
a mere fifteen minutes, using awe-inspiring images and
a sweeping original musical score, this amazing film
shows how science, spirit and ancient indigenous wisdom
are now all converging to reveal that we stand in the
very heart of that which created us.
An entirely new
context for human life is arising in our lifetime, with
the potential to transform forever our sense of separation,
isolation, and alienation into one of connection, commonality
and communion.
Followed by a special feature interview
with Cosmologist Brian Swimme. This film was developed
under the auspices of The Pachamama Alliance as a part
of their Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Program,
an initiative whose mission is to bring forth an environmentally
sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human
presence on this planet.

Pachamama Alliance, visit

FREE – FIRST SESSION IN THE
ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
The Alexander Technique is a method that works to change
(movement) habits in our everyday activities. It is a simple
and practical method for improving ease and freedom of movement,
balance, support and coordination.
The technique teaches the use
of the appropriate amount of effort for a particular activity,
giving you more energy for all your activities.
It is not
a series of treatments or exercises, but rather a reeducation
of the mind and body.
Jay Hovenesian is an intuitive healer
and a certified Alexander Technique teacher. He serves
on the faculty of Clark University and conducts workshops and
classes for businesses and community education programs throughout
Massachusetts.
He has a private practice in Brookline.
