SEPTEMBER 2009:
A Sampler of recent suggestions of general interest ... and our answers:

question Hi – It’s been a while (a couple years) since I was here (Cambridge). The store looks great, and Central Square actually looks nice – I’m amazed. The produce is fantastic, and the whole place is so much cleaner. I’ll be back!

question Thanks- We appreciate your noticing – and we know we still have a lot of work to do!
We have also been working closely with the City of Cambridge and the Central Square Business Association to help make Central Square a safer, friendlier place to shop, and I think the improvement shows.

questionWhen is the Vegetarian Food Festival?

questionThis year, it will be expanded to two days!
Saturday, October 31, 10 AM - 6 PM and Sunday, November 1, 10 AM - 4 PM at the Reggie Lewis Center.
For more info, go to their website.
If you haven’t been, whether you are a vegetarian or not, it’s a blast!
Be sure to check us out at the Harvest Co-op Principal Sponsor Table.

questionI just noticed that when I use my Harvest card, my first and last name are displayed on the register screen for all to see. This is a terrible invasion of privacy and could be dangerous to your members.

questionThanks for the feedback. We have changed our system now so that only the membership status shows on the screen facing the customer.

questionThanks for carrying the vegan sandwiches and knishes from Suneen foods! They’re awesome!

questionYou are welcome. We miss Sant’s sandwiches, but these new sandwiches are delicious.

questionCan we have a rack for bags, bottles, bins and boxes (i.e. containers for bulk) near the bulk? Reusing should be encouraged even for the unprepared.

questionNo, unfortunately we can’t. The Board of Health will not let us leave used containers around for others – even cardboard boxes for groceries. You can bring in your own used containers, but you cannot leave them here for others.
I remember the old days in Allston when we had box bins with bulk ready-ground peanut and almond butter, tamari, etc.
Ahh, I long for those simpler times. . .
